Digitalocean cpanel
I'm basically out of ideas on what to do to improve the performance on my cPanel hosted sites and really hoping someone can offer some advice on where to look before I give up on this experiment. Digital ocean server monitoring shows plenty of CPU, RAM available, and low disk IO. Pages are still slow even when load averages are under 0.1.

#Digitalocean cpanel install
A fresh WP install on the cPanel host is still slower than a $5 droplet. to a MySQL Server Remotely with MySQL Workbench DigitalOcean. Navigating the cPanel admin pages are lightning fast, no slowness at all. Some additional side notes: the admin pages are lightning fast on the DO droplets, and slow as hell on cPanel host. Non-cached pages, or ones hits after a cache refresh can be 1.2-3.5s TTFB! My fastest site on my cPanel hosting is getting 400-900ms TTFB on a cached page with all the bells and whistles from a literal whole weekend of performance tuning (98 Pagespeed, 95 Yslow from GTMetrix). Spin up an instance in the GCP Marketplace and use the power of Googles own infrastructure to create a reliable and flexible virtual machine. My $5 droplets are consistently getting 100-200ms TTFB with almost no performance effort. For customers new to virtual machines, DigitalOcean’s support is invaluable and their flexible billing is a useful feature for growing startups. but I'm sticking with Apache instead of nginx unless there's a painless way of switching since the $5 droplets are also apache). #Digitalocean cpanel software
for providing its computer software that facilitates the management and configuration of internet web servers. My cPanel is hosted on a standard droplet with 4GB RAM, 2 vCPUs ($20/month plan) and I'm using Apache with PHP 7.4 on CentOS 7.6 (and I've since learned nginx is a better option. DigitalOcean vs cPanel Reviewers felt that cPanel meets the needs of their business better than DigitalOcean. cPanel, WebHost Manager and WHM are registered trademarks of cPanel, L.L.C. However, my TTFB is absolute SHIT on the sites on my cpanel host vs ones still on their own droplets. I've got everything working fine after a lot of googling about DNS, SPF, DKIM, PTR, WTF, OMFG, etc.
I saw digital ocean had a marketplace option for a cPanel installation, so I decided to set that up to play around and learn cPanel and maybe host all my sites under one roof and so I can handle my own mail delivery. I've used Digital Ocean for a lot of the Wordpress sites I've built and they're lightning fast, even the $5 droplets. I run a Moodle that has approximately 10-15 courses each year, about 50 students per course. Tl dr - if you're running cPanel + Wordpress, make sure you're using PHP-FPM! I have a GD 2 vCPU VPS advertised at 19.99 (US), with cPanel. Results are immediately visible from the WP backend and a nice boost to GTMetrix too. I just enabled it for all my sites and it feels like I'm Neo in the matrix flying to save Trinity from falling. PHP-FPM was not enabled by default (why would you do this to us, Digital ocean?!). Now the difference between cPanel and digital ocean is that digital ocean is just a clean VPS.
EDIT: holy shit, I think I found the problem.
